Corporate Escape Story — From BP Exec to Renewable Energy Leader
This is a fascinating corporate escape story from Fast Company.
Cynthia Warner was the head of global refining for British Petroleum and a 28-year oil industry veteran. She left BP in 2008 to become president of Sapphire Energy, a company working to produce renewable “green crude” from algae grown in open pools in the New Mexico desert.

After a long wait and shrewd patience we should be rewarded with something like this. To learn and fulfil your career is truly a magnificent way to change the course of our daily lives.

It is interesting how Cynthia Warner’s career took a turn toward renewable energy in the form of algae. The Sapphire Energy company was very smart in selecting her and convincing her to lead their company. She knows how the big oil companies operate—which will help the Sapphire Energy company operate in a competitive way. I give kudos to the Sapphire Energy company for being creative in their search for the right president.
We need to remember that any job—large or small—enhances our skills and prepares us for the next step in our career.
